Assessment Test

Practical Assessment

For my practical assessment we used different shot types to show how you make a cup of tea, this is the end product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTiKo_O-waU

We used various angles on the cup of tea being made such as a long shot, med shot and high angle shot. All the shots were decent nonetheless a few still need more thought and care into them in regards to the way it was shot with the rule of thirds, composition of the background and placement/quality of the props.

What I would do differently next time is organise the background to look plain or more suited to the situation and not have all the lighting equipment in the studio being shown. Also when taking the shots i would have them more symmetrical and true to the rule of thirds and i wouldn't have done as many close ups on the face but rather on the props that were being used because that is where the action is happening. Although it's good to get some emotion in there, everybody can make a cup of tea without putting emotion into it.

A strength of mine is able to get good angles ready for the scenes which preview everything into perspective and make it a respectable point of interest in terms of composition of the shots.

However a weakness I had during this assessment was the lack of thought gone into it, it was an on the spot practical which needed to be processed properly through my head rather than just going straight into it.

What i learnt from this is to be more coodorniated with how I want my shots taken and take initiative when dealing with composition and layout of the scenes. I furthered my knowledge in how to use the recording equipmet, microphones and lighting but next time i will put more of that into practice.
